16 Things To Do in 2016
Being 3 weeks into 2016, here are 16 things we all need to do.
2016 To Do List
Be a better friend. Call. Tell them you miss them. Encourage them. Love them as they are.
Make friends. Go do things in the adventure of meeting new people. Smile at strangers. Say hi & ask how they’re doing. Strike up conversation however you can.
Do things for others. Do “X” number of things for “X” number of people a day. Compliment them, offer your help, bake, make, or buy something for someone who needs it, leave quarters at the parking meter, write random love notes for someone(s) to find. The smallest act of kindness can make a grand impact on someone’s life.
Don’t forget to do things for yourself. Take a nap. Take your dog to the park. Read that book you’ve wanted to read. Go get coffee with a friend. Spend time alone. Learn how to be yourself. Make a list of things you love & make them a part of your life.
Work out on a daily or weekly basis. Schedule time to exercise. Make healthy choices. Go for a walk or a bike ride or do yoga. Simple things help. Put in the time & effort & I guarantee you’ll begin to feel better.
Make decisions. Don’t overcomplicate things. Don’t over think. Choose yes or no & be confident in your decision.
Practice time management. Think about what you’re doing & give yourself more than enough time to do it. Although you may be the champ of procrastination *me*, waiting until the last minute to do something or getting yourself worked up over something you could’ve avoided getting worked up over isn’t as “ok” as you make it out to be. You may be great at handling stress, you may be used to it even if you’re not great at it, but if you find yourself thinking “if only I would’ve had more time”, then make some changes.
Wait. So often we get caught up in our own plans & dreams & timing; and although it’s wonderful & important to have these things, if you haven’t learned by now, nothing ever happens exactly how you imagine it to. And if & when you learn this, you find waiting, as difficult & tiresome as it may seem sometimes, is a beautiful thing. The longer you wait, the more worth-while whatever you’re waiting for becomes. What is supposed to happen will happen in Perfect timing.
Plan. Be spontaneous, but don’t let “spontaneity” turn into really not doing anything at all. Make plans for yourself or for/with friends. Plan picnics & movie dates & getaways & parties & go through with them. Capture the moments. Take photographs. Make memories.
Write. Write out your thoughts, ideas, dreams, & hopes. Write your memories & things you’d like to do. Write your favorite quotes or favorite song lyrics. Write without expectation or restraint. Have freedom in being yourself. You’ll learn so much about whom you really are & who you aren’t & who you want to be.
Go. Get out of your little world. Be bold. “Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire”. Travel near & far & anytime you have the chance. Don’t let money or stress or work get in the way; there are always ways to do it all. What’s the point of being in this big world if you only see where you are right now?
Love – unconditionally, relentlessly, freely, and selflessly.
Believe in yourself. Believe in others.
Make this year one for the books.
